Primary Sources

What are Primary Sources?

Primary sources are created by participants or observers of the historical event you are researching. This includes: photographs, audio or video recordings, newspapers, interviews, speeches, letters, manuscripts, diaries, journals, born-digital items (e.g. emails), maps, government documents, research data, artifacts (e.g. artwork, tools, architecture), and more.
